“I plead here incompetence and stupidity.”
This is probably the Minnesota governor’s best defense. Tim Waltz can offer if he is criminally charged in connection with shocking multi-billion dollar taxpayer scams that grow bigger by the day.
Given his well-deserved reputation, his excuse of incompetence would be credible.
Nearly every social service program receiving federal funds was defrauded by fraudsters right under Walz’s nose, including child nutrition, child care, health care, housing and autism assistance. Most of the perpetrators were Somalis who constitute a powerful voting bloc that the governor cherishes like gold.
EMMER WARNS WALZ COULD END UP “IN HANDCUFFS” AMID MINNESOTA FRAUD CLAIMS
Walz was repeatedly warned about scams as early as 2019, when he first took office. Instead of stopping the scams and prosecuting the crooks, he gave in to them by establishing a culture of permissible fraud.

The scandal has already damaged Walz’s political career, forcing him to abandon his re-election bid. But if he thought quitting would somehow protect him from legal culpability, he was wrong. There is growing evidence that Walz was deliberately complicit, deliberately refusing to report or prosecute the monumental thefts and, instead, launching aggressive measures to scuttle any legal review and criminal consequences.
Officials from the governor’s Department of Human Services issued a scathing statement accusing him of being 100 percent to blame. Witnesses say he retaliated against whistleblowers and conspired to discredit well-documented reports of fraud.
LONG-RUNNING WALZ FRAUD SCANDAL PUTS HARRIS CAMPAIGN’S JUDGMENT UNDER REVIEW
If true, Walz’s aberrant actions come dangerously close to criminal behavior involving cover-ups and obstruction.
Nine federal agencies, including the FBI, are now working to unravel the full breadth and depth of the colossal downside. THE Department of Justice (DOJ) sent dozens of investigators and lawyers to Minnesota to pursue the network of fraud and deception.
They will inevitably wonder whether Walz should face criminal charges himself.

There are several federal laws to consider. 18 USC 371 makes it a crime to conspire with others to defraud the government. At this time, there is no known evidence that Walz directly participated in the scams or accepted money himself.

However, if he conspired to cover up the fraud by hindering, hindering or defeating efforts to bring the fraudsters to justice, the conspiracy status is applicable. The same goes for the various obstruction of justice laws.
JASON CHAFFETZ: DEMOCRATS HAVE TURNED OUR TREASURY INTO A “PIGGY BANK FOR FRAUDS”
There is also 18 USC 2, the aiding and abetting statute, in which accomplices are treated the same as principal perpetrators. This law gave rise to the “doctrine of willful blindness” recognized by our courts.
An example is a businessman who intentionally ignores or turns a blind eye to his partner’s money laundering, resulting in charges against both. Likewise, a public official like Walz can be accused of willful inaction when he clearly has a duty to act.
Finally, 18 USC 3 is relevant in cases of concealment. Anyone who knows that a crime has been committed but “obstructs its apprehension, trial, or punishment” is guilty of accessory after the fact. This bears a striking resemblance to what Walz is accused of doing.
FROM CONGRESS, TO VP CANDIDATE TO DEGREED FORMER GOVERNOR: A LOOK AT TIM WALZ’S ELEVATOR AND FALL
All this raises the question of the governor’s motive. If it wasn’t money, how would he have benefited from cracking down on the avalanche of fraud? This is the easy part. Votes.
Walz, alongside liberal elites and their media minions, have long dismissed rumors and reports of Somali-organized fraud as “racist.” Apparently, in Minnesota, it is politically incorrect to enforce the law against immigrants from the East African country. It’s just not fashionable.
God forbid, putting criminals behind bars could cause them to lose electoral support. It’s classy to turn the other cheek.
REP. TOM EMMER: WALZ OVERSIGHTED BILLIONS OF STOLEN TAXPAYER MONEY – NOW COMES ACCOUNTABILITY
So Somali fraudsters received a free get out of jail card, courtesy of the the governor and his acolytes. Walz, in turn, got their votes. It was a nice reward, but with an alternative currency: votes. As far as the protection rackets go, it was smooth.
This comfortable arrangement manifests itself in a newly discovered audio recording from a 2021 conversation between Walz Attorney General Keith Ellison and Somali scammers who were soon after convicted of defrauding millions of dollars. They were heard leaning heavily on the AG to “protect” them in exchange for support and campaign donations.
Ellison eagerly capitulated but now denies any wrongdoing. He returned the money.
It is too early to know if criminal case will be filed against Minnesota’s embattled governor. The U.S. Attorney and Justice Department lawyers continue to dig through mountains of evidence.
However, as noted above, the only tenable defense Walz can conjure up is incompetence and stupidity. This is something jurors could easily accept.
After all, ineptitude has become the governor’s calling card. He infamously admitted his own buffoonery during the 2024 vice presidential debate when he called himself an “idiot.” It was such a gaffe factory that the Kamala Harris The campaign distanced him from the media.
Walz achieved the impossible. He made his running mate look like a genius. His bizarre onstage antics constantly fueled mockery. Baffling verbal gaffes, like boasting about having “become friends with school shooters,” left voters scratching their heads or snickering.
A series of demonstrable lies about his military service and his particular trips to China have only deepened the impression of a man who is either a serial fabricator or a man who is not right. Maybe both are true.
And who can forget his epic clumsiness George Floyd riots in 2020. He radicalized the tragic death, thus triggering the violence that followed. As Minneapolis burned, Walz hesitated. He later blamed the looting and burning of buildings on systemic racism.

It is therefore not a stretch to imagine that an accusation alleging that Walz was knowingly complicit in his state’s massive welfare fraud scandal could be met with a defense of “put“feasance” (negligent or incompetent performance of a legal duty) to combat incriminating evidence of “wrong“feasance” (a deliberate and illegal act).
It’s a distinction that can make the difference between a conviction and an acquittal.

If Walz finds himself in the dock soon… don’t be surprised if he comes off as an intellectually imbecile incapable of grasping the obvious.
