Taylor Sheridan once gave Jennifer Lawrence some of her best career advice

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most popular actresses in the world today. She won an Oscar for her work in “Silver Linings Playbook.” and was nominated for three other performances throughout her career for her work in “Winter’s Bone,” “American Hustle” and “Joy.” Turns out she actually got some pretty crucial acting advice from another Hollywood heavy hitter. Namely, Taylor Sheridan, creator of “Yellowstone.”

In a recent episode of “Without intelligence” podcast, Lawrence revealed that Sheridan influenced her early in his career, long before he was one of television’s most important creators. Let’s not forget, it’s the man behind the whole “Yellowstone” universenot to mention “Landman” and “Tulsa King”. As explained in the episode, Lawrence didn’t go to drama school to “learn how to act.” However, early in her career, her representatives still felt she needed some education. So, she teamed up with a guy to do just that. Turns out that guy was Sheridan. Here’s what Lawrence had to say about it:

“My mom took me to this guy that this agency told me to meet to help me with acting or whatever. And he told my mom, ‘Don’t put her in acting classes. Don’t do that.’ This guy happens to be Taylor Sheridan…I guess he was a drama teacher at the time or something.”

Indeed, long before he started writing hit TV shows and movies, Sheridan was an actor. He played Danny Boyd in “Veronica Mars” and David Hale on “Sons of Anarchy,” in addition to other episodic television shows. Apparently he was also something of an acting coach. Interestingly, at least in Lawrence’s case, his advice had nothing to do with learning acting from the other actors in a class.

Later in the conversation, co-host Will Arnett asked if Lawrence had ever crossed paths with Sheridan, specifically, whether or not they had ever flirted with working together, given that they are now both titans of the industry.

“We met about another project, but we didn’t talk about it because I don’t know if we connected,” Lawrence added, revealing that they didn’t even realize it had happened. “Someone made the connection for me when I was doing a Q&A for a film two or three years ago.”

It’s safe to say that everything worked out well for Lawrence. She became a superstar after playing Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games” films. Lawrence went on to star in several “X-Men” films, as well as Netflix’s “Don’t Look Up.” Most recently, she appeared in “Die My Love”, which /The film’s Chris Evangelista called it a “career-best performance” for her.

Meanwhile, Sheridan is an undisputed powerhouse. He recently signed a massive deal to leave Paramount for NBCUniversalsignaling how valuable his ideas are. He’s not a one-trick pony either, having written hit films such as “Sicario” and “Hell or High Water”, in addition to his television work. It’s fascinating to consider that these two paths crossed in such a crucial way long before they became what they became. Who knows? Maybe they will work together in the future. It’s pretty easy to imagine a studio, network, and/or streaming service being excited about this combination.
