Former Indian cricketer Mohamed Kaif has been the victim of a vicious online hate campaign, targeted with horrific religious abuse simply for carrying out his professional duty in the ongoing 2025-26 International T20 League (ILT20) in the UAE.
A normal professional mission turned into a huge controversy. In fact, Mohammad Kaif was seen commentating on ILT20 2025-26 alongside former Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik, which led to the former Indian batter facing harsh criticism and personal abuse on social media.

Mohammad Kaif was seen commentating during the 27th match of the ongoing ILT20 between Dubai Capitals and Sharjah Warriorz at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on December 24. Screenshots of the comment box quickly went viral on social media, causing massive outrage among fans.

A section of the supporters accused Mohammad Kaif of double standards and fueled the Indo-Pakistani rivalry. Social media, including X (formerly Twitter), was flooded with messages targeting Kaif’s religion. Some comments crossed the line into community venom.
Many fans have pointed out how India refused to play the Legends World Championship semi-final against Pakistan and then denied shaking hands at the 2025 Asia Cup, and this trend is still continued on the cricket field by all Indian teams in the competition.
Slamming Mohammad Kaif, some fans claimed that these actions were only done to please Indian fans as the former players later worked together in foreign leagues and showed a different reality. However, Mohammad Kaif has yet to publicly respond to the online abuse.

@BCCI is so anti-India. They didn’t ban the Asian Cup as if they had power, but what useless power if they didn’t listen to the fans and the feelings of the country.
No, the handshake was the biggest lie to the fans. In the World Cup, they’re still in the same group, dammit. They only run for money.— 🇮🇳Rahul🇮🇳 (@rahulsp09) December 25, 2025
Kaif and Malik belong to the same religion. Dhurandhar was right that we need to get rid of internal termites first.

Talking about the ILT20 clash, Dubai Capitals defeated Sharjah Warriorz by six wickets to secure their place in the playoffs. The defending champions remained calm under pressure and finished the chase with five balls to spare, keeping their title defense firmly on track.
Jordan Cox played the key role with an unbeaten 61 off 50 balls, hitting six fours and a six. Opener Shayan Jahangir gave the Capitals a good start by scoring 51 off 39 balls. They faced a bit of pressure when Sikandar Raza dismissed Jahangir and Mohammad Nabi, and Leus du Plooy fell cheaply, leaving the Capitals at 114 for four in the 18th over.
But then Cox took charge and finished the match brilliantly. Earlier, Sharjah Warriorz posted a score of 134/8 with Johnson Charles topscoring with 43.
