PIF considering selling Newcastle star Joelinton in permanent deal, Howe against

Saudi Pro League clubs are now in contact Newcastle United about a deal in January to sign one of the Eddie Howethe main men.

Eddie Howe warns Newcastle of ‘improved’ Man United

Boxing Day presents the perfect opportunity for Newcastle and Howe to get their seasons back on track ahead of the new year. The Magpies again showed plenty of signs of quality against Chelsea, before an all-too-familiar collapse saw them fall to a 2-2 draw despite initially holding a 2-0 lead.

They will be desperate to avoid a repeat this evening when they travel to face Manchester United at Old Trafford and Howe has already warned his team of the Red Devils’ recent improvement.

“Our record has been good against Manchester United in recent matches, but that counts for nothing in this match.

“It will be another independent game and like I said, they have improved, they have been really strong in the games – even in the Aston Villa game, where they didn’t win in their last game, I thought they were really strong and put in a good performance.

Victory could take Newcastle above Man United and into seventh place before anyone plays in the Premier League this weekend. Defeat, meanwhile, could see them fall all the way to 15th place by the end of the weekend.

This would expose where they have been so far this season and highlight the amount of work PIF needs to do in the January transfer window.

Newcastle’s £120,000-a-week ‘leader’ must never start for the club again

Howe has found an unlikely hero to help Newcastle through their latest round of drama.

Already, reports suggest they could move into action to try to sign Jarrod Bowen And Nicholas Jackson in 2026. The duo would bring an end to Newcastle’s unfinished business from the summer and finally complete their new frontline.

But Tyneside residents need not just worry about income. According to TeamTalk, Saudi clubs have made contact to sign Joelinton next month and Newcatle are “reported to be considering a permanent deal for the player although Howe has made it clear” he wants to keep him.

The Brazilian has struggled to repeat his performances from last season in the current campaign thanks to several factors. Newcastle’s form didn’t help, of course, and his own injury problems saw him face a stop-start spell at St James’ Park for a few months.

As a result, for the first time since his midfield move, questions are coming over Joelinton’s future. While Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes retain their places in Howe’s midfield, it is Joelinton who could drop out if Newcastle welcome additional reinforcement.

Joelinton-1

This is when the door could open for the Saudi Pro League. PIF could deal an unexpected blow to Newcastle by luring the midfielder to another of their clubs next month, with the report revealing they have made “breakthroughs” on a deal this summer and will move again during the winter window.

At Newcastle, Joelinton would earn as much as £150,000 per weekbut history tells us that the salary would probably be doubled or even tripled in the Saudi Pro League.

Several stars have found it difficult to resist the temptations of Saudi riches. However, it remains to be seen whether Joelinton will be the last to follow suit. Even amid his inconsistent form, he remains one of Howe’s mainstays.
