The bill adopted the Chamber at the end of May, before the Memorial Day, largely along the party. However, two Republicans voted against the measure, citing insufficient spending reductions and increasing national debt. GOP Kentucky Sen. RAND PAUL also said that he would probably not vote in favor of the bill in its current form, citing an increase in the debt ceiling which is a red line.
Trump was unleashed against Paul and others for opposing the bill, but he adopted a more measured approach to Musk’s criticism.
“Look, the president already knows where Elon Musk was standing on this bill,” said the press secretary of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, during a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon when he asked Musk’s most recent criticisms.
“This does not change the president’s opinion. It is a big and beautiful invoice and he sticks to it,” she said.
Musk, who led cost reduction efforts to Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Previously, criticized the bill during an interview with CBS, noting that it was “disappointed” in the bill of spending because “it is under” all the work that his Doge team was doing.

In May, when Trump was asked about Musk’s criticism of the CBS bill, he replied: “Well, our reaction is a lot of things”, before pivoting the necessary votes to support the bill.
