Jonathan Van Ness shows off her figure after openly discussing her GLP-1 weight loss.
“Sorry, not sorry for leading with abs before Antoni and my mother,” the strange eye star, 38 years old, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, December 28, alongside a photo carousel.
The first photo showed the hairstylist shirtless in the gym, posing for the camera while showing off a sign and his six-pack abs. The next photos featured a photo of Van Ness with his Queer Eye costar, Antoni Porowskiand a photo of the star with her mother.
Van Ness has been open about his weight loss journey, which includes losing nearly 70 pounds using GLP-1 medication. In October, he explained his decision to use the drug amid accusations from fans that the LGBTQ+ advocate was no longer “body positive.”
“What do you mean? I’m all for body neutrality,” Van Ness responded via a TikTok video at the time. “Your appearance does not define your worth, does not define your attractiveness. You are worth love and worth celebrating, no matter what your body looks like.”
Van Ness then described a “medical issue” he endured in 2023, explaining that he decided to use GLP-1 medication — in addition to a workout routine that included Pilates — because he “just didn’t feel right.”
“My body has never been in my entire life [looked like this] —I always wanted to have abs,” he said in the video. “I never had abs. And I feel really good, so I often take my shirt off.
He continued, “I’ve always been really cute and I’ve always felt cute. But I just didn’t feel right, and now I feel right.”
A few months earlier, in January, Van Ness spoke again about using GLP-1 drugs, a class of weight-loss drugs like Ozempic used to treat diabetes, to help him overcome binge eating disorder.
“Alright, I have a confession to make. Yes, I take a GLP-1 or a weight loss drug,” Van Ness wrote via Instagram at the time. “If you’ve followed me for a long time, you’ll know that I’ve gained and lost weight several times in very public ways. And this time in my life, I knew I needed a little extra help.”
He continued: “I was constantly making decisions that I regretted with compulsive eating and binge eating that left me feeling really hurt, depressed and out of control. For the first time in my life, I had control over my food intake. It helped me tremendously, and that’s part of why I want to be honest with you about this, because I know how important asking for help is and how much asking for help can change your life in terms of recovery. This time, I needed help.
