Terence Crawford had some strong words to say about an undefeated reigning world champion.
Crawford announced his retirement from the sport earlier this monthhanging up his gloves with a perfect 42-0 record and becoming world champion in five separate weight classes, including three as undisputed champion.
His last victory came in September when he moved up two weight divisions to defeat Canelo Alvarez, while also notching victories against fighters such as Errol Spence and Shawn Porter.
Crawford was recently liveand he was asked to share his thoughts on the fight between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach, which took place in March.
This fight ended in a controversial majority draw, with “Tank” taking a knee during the fight after claiming he had grease in his eyes, something which “Bud” said was not only a knockdown, but also should have resulted in a disqualification for Davis.
“1000% it was a knockdown, but it still should have been a disqualification. You can’t go to your own corner and your trainer comes over. You can’t give yourself a time out in boxing. You can’t call a time out and go to your corner and have your trainer wipe your eyes.
“You can’t do that. Either way, it wasn’t right. If it was the other side, they definitely would have called for a reversal and they definitely would have taken points or disqualified Roach.”
Davis is still the reigning WBA lightweight champion, but it is currently unclear what his next move will be, with his planned exhibition with Jake Paul in November canceled at short notice after “Tank” was named in a civil lawsuit regarding domestic allegations.
