Christine Brown breaks silence on shocking family ties

Christine Brown was married to Kody Brown for eight years, during which they shared six children. The end of their marriage depended, among other things, on Kody Brown’s strained relationship with the children.

According to the TLC star, she and her ex-husband are actually related by blood and are “third cousins, once removed.” Christine confessed that she could have carried it in her heart all these years, even during their marriage, because she was related to everyone in her church.

She shared this with David Woolley on the latest episode of the show “Sister Wives,” where she talked about how strange plural marriages can be. As reported PEOPLEChristine shared that even though she had married a convert, she still could not escape the fate of marrying a relative.

Janelle Brown, who was Christine’s co-wife to Kody, also co-signed the story, revealing that it was always a running joke in their family that Kody and Christine were cousins, but very distant.

“It wasn’t the kind of relationship where you saw each other at a family reunion. It was a very distant relationship, but they always joked that they were cousins. It’s a small community,” Janelle added.

In a previous episode, Janelle explained how Kody’s father and her own mother had gotten married a few months before she married Kody. The reality star explained to her friends that she was fully aware of polygamy from her high school years, before she married Kody.

She added that her discussions with Kody and his family really piqued her interest in plural marriage, but her mother was strongly against it and came to save her.

However, one plot twist that Janelle didn’t see coming was her mother falling in love with Kody’s father while trying to stop her and Kody from getting married. In Janelle’s words: “When they decided to get married, I was like, ‘This is going to be a little hard to explain, but okay.'”

A few years ago, the mother of six admitted that she did the heavy lifting when it came to mediating between Kody and the kids. She added that she often bridged the gap by constantly reassuring their children that their father loved them, even when things didn’t suggest it.

The explosion reported that Christine recalled promising the children numerous times that their father would spend time with them, until the children realized they had no connection with their father.

Three years after this confession, the 53-year-old left a positive comment about the family patriarch’s journey with the children. Christine noted that things had gotten a little better and would get better as they continued to move forward.

“It’s an ongoing story. But I think Kody is a good person and I think things will get better,” the mother of six continued. She also added that there are a lot of issues to resolve between the star, her children and even herself.

The explosion shared that Christine explained that her daughter Mykelti Brown’s problematic relationship with Kody played a huge role in her decision to leave Kody’s environment.

She noted that her daughter also harbored deep resentment against her father and knew that Arizona had become super toxic for her, hence her move to Utah. Last year, Mykelti herself addressed rumors that her stepmother, Meri Brown, displayed abusive tendencies toward Kody.

During the question and answer session on her YouTube channel, Mykelti revealed that while she is cautious in confirming or denying any reports, people are not far from the truth based on their speculations.

The YouTube creator also noted that Meri was verbally and emotionally abusive to children when they were younger. Mykelti explained that even though this whole phase is now behind them, she remains the most affected by the episodes.
