Crystal Palace sign Brennan Johnson from Tottenham in club record deal

Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of striker Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur in a club record transfer.

The £35 million deal will see the 24-year-old Wales international sign a four-and-a-half year contract and wear the No.11 shirt for the Eagles.

Johnson, who scored the only goal of the match as Spurs ended a 17-year wait for a trophy with victory against Manchester United in the European League final last seasonwill be eligible to make his Palace debut against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Sunday.

The striker was named Championship Young Player of the Season during Nottingham Forest’s 2021/22 season and has won 42 senior caps for Wales.

Commenting on Johnson’s arrival, Palace manager Oliver Glasner said: “I’m really delighted that Brennan has joined the club. He arrives very early in the window, so thanks to the club for making this possible so quickly.

“Brennan will give us options in our attacking play with his pace and goal-scoring ability and with all the games coming up he will be a valuable addition to the team.”

Johnson added: “I’m really excited and I’m really happy. Crystal Palace is such a great club, who I’ve always admired.

“It’s the perfect time for me to be here and join this club’s journey – I’m super excited.”
